I have recently received my map box and just had to let you know how truly delighted I am with it. The quality of the box and the engraving is fantastic. I love the tactile nature of the sketch map in particular. The box will have pride of place in our campervan as we embark on planned trips around Scotland next year and will house our collection of vintage cloth maps.
I will definitely be ordering an A4 box soon.
My map box arrived much sooner than expected, and it’s a lovely bit of kit. I couldn’t quite believe that OS don’t sell a branded map box themselves, but in the end I’m glad that they don’t as this wooden one is much nicer.

I bought the Map Box as a present for friends who are avid walkers and have their OS maps just loose on the bookcase. When it was delivered I opened the packaging and removed the invoice, the actual box was well wrapped so I left it and just gifted wrapped it. When my friends opened it after their party they were absolutely delighted with the Map Box and sent me a photo and I must say it looked absolutely stunning, with a map of the Peak District (one of their favourite places) and the engraving finished it off. Just received a Map Box no.9207 for my 66th birthday from my wife, daughter and grandchildren after a chance remark when advert spotted in Country Walking. It has the Seven Sisters sheet clearly engraved on it, we have walked here many times, and now contains my (our) OS maps of the whole of Sussex, South Downs Way and surrounding areas. A beautiful, practical piece of furniture which will hold so many memories just looking at the box and maps inside.
