Lake District 60cm Wall Map

Closed for a while

Dear customers, We have decided to pause our shop for a trial period.

The events of this year have for us meant a surge of demand in our other business, in which we make products for the rock climbing industry. Having given it a lot of thought, at this time we feel it is best to focus on one area rather than to divide our time between the two businesses.

We know how much our customers enjoy our products, many of you having purchased from us a number of times. Our products have always been inspired by your ideas and explorations. We are truly grateful for your support over the years, and we are sorry not to be able to provide you with our bespoke products for this period.

We hope to re-launch in a few months with some fresh ideas and a refined range of beautiful map products.

The Lake District National Park Wall Map is carved from hardwood and engraved with a sharp, clean map design.  This extensive and detailed piece gives an impressive overview of the park and includes the boundary line. It is 60cm square with a depth of 4cm, and a mounting board that gives a 1cm gap against the wall.

We use FSC certified staved hardwood (oak or maple), formed from several solid pieces. The wood is carved to shape based on Ordnance Survey height data. The map is also based on OS data and is engraved onto the shaped surface. It is carefully finished with a natural blend of oils and waxes.

The Lake District, also known as the Lakes or Lakeland, is a mountainous region in North West England. A popular holiday destination, it is famous for its lakes, forests and mountains (or fells), and its associations with William Wordsworth and other Lake Poets and also with Beatrix Potter and John Ruskin. The National Park was established in 1951 and covers an area of 2,362 square kilometres. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2017. It is the most visited national park in the United Kingdom with 15.8 million annual visitors and more than 23 million annual day visits.
It retained its original boundaries until 2016 when it was extended by 3% in the direction of the Yorkshire Dales National Park to incorporate areas such as land of high landscape value in the Lune Valley.
