Maple is light in colour with a glistening, delicate figuring.
This makes the map engraving very clear and the subtleties of the shape easy to see. Maple is used in musical instrument making due to it’s magical patterns and consistency. This is why we recommend maple as the default option if you are unsure.
Oak has a rich, darker colour with beautiful features.
The figuring will wrap around the contours whilst the engraving lines are strong. Subtle details of the map shape can be slightly harder to see, but this is made up for by the richness of the character. Oak is always popular and an oak Wall Map will really stand out.
